[May 24, 2019] On a published article by the Philippine National Nutrition Council (NCC) dated April 30, 2019, the official theme for the National Nutrition Month Celebration 2019, as approved by the council, is:
“Kumain nang wasto at maging aktibo… push natin ‘to!”
Accordingly, the Nutrition Month Celebration 2019 theme is a call to action for Filipinos to practice healthy diet and engage in regular physical activity and reduce sedentary behaviors which go hand in hand.
The annual campaign every July will serve as an avenue to help individuals make informed food choices and be guided on how to integrate physical activity in daily life; jump-start or reinforce nutrition advocacies and policies; and mobilize stakeholders to provide an enabling environment for healthy diet and physical activity.
The National Nutrition Council conducted a theme and logo contest that ran from December 01, 2018 to January 15, 2019. From over 200 theme and 59 logo entries, the NNC Secretariat shortlisted the best entries and presented to the NNC Technical Committee. However, the committee did not find any of the entries to be sufficient to encompass both nutrition and physical activity.
Then again, July 2019 will unravel a series of opportunities to achieve good health. The NNC encourages individuals, families, communities, national government agencies, local government units, and NGOs to participate in the campaign.
